Major cultural and entertaining events organized in our city are spots with the highest concentration of positive energy. Each year Belgrade hosts a range of international cultural events with a three-, four-, and even five-decade long tradition.
OPEN HEARTS STREET
Each January 1, Svetogorska and Makedonska Streets
After the New Years Eve, walk through these streets and take a part in this traditional gathering. In front of the theatre building, a performance is held by the actors, singers and other participants in the cultural-entertaining programme. The programme for children (actors, musicians, Santa Clause) and adults (cooked brandy and wine for a good morning) starts at noon. The traditional New Year’s pageant with a carriage followed by the performers will then start a tour of the city streets, creating a carnival atmosphere of song, music, and dance.

FEST – international film festival
Represents the film achievements of the highest range of world cinema, the winners and other participants of the festival. It is in February, to meet the Oscar award.

GUITAR ART FESTIVAL
The Festival brings together classical guitar players, from music school students and their professors to world-renowned guitar artists. Held annually, it features master classes, lectures, music competitions, concerts, launches and exhibitions.

DAYS OF BELGRADE
Since 2002, the period between two important events in the history of Belgrade – from the 16th to the 19th April – is celebrated as the Days of Belgrade. The Slavic name of Belgrade was first mentioned in a written document on 16th
April 878, while on the 19th April 1867 Belgrade was liberated from the Turks. Over these four days a large number of exhibitions, concerts, performances and official presentations are organized. Belgrade City Council awards the City of Belgrade Prize and the City of Belgrade Young Artists Prize.

BELGRADE MARATHON
Belgrade marathon concerns the main race over 42 km and a Fun Run of 5 km. A week before the full marathon, the Children’s marathon is run, a race organized for the youngest competitors. It is held in the mid April.

One of the premier city events – Belgrade Fashion Week – is organized twice a year: at the end of October and in the middle of April. With the most important domestic designers and fashion companies, attractive foreign brands from domestic market, talented young designers, students from Faculty of Applied Arts, interesting designers from abroad as well as numerous media at one place, Belgrade Fashion Week is a must attend event.

MUSEUM NIGHT
Since 2005 an event has been organized in spring and autumn when for the price of one entry ticket you can go round dozens of Belgrade museums, galleries and other cultural institutions and enjoy a wide-ranging artistic program.

BELGRADE SPORT FEST
The motto of this unique festival which brings together a large number of young people is: “Make friends and enjoy the
nature through sports”. The purpose of this event is the promotion of recreational sport and a healthy lifestyle. Bungee
jumping, demonstration of martial arts, international beach volley, basketball and football tournaments as well as sailing and kayak regattas are just some of the attractive disciplines organized for five years in a row on “the seaside

INTERNATIONAL KNIGHTS TOURNAMENT SVIBOR
Attractive international knights tournament taking place in Belgrade fortress, Kalemegdan, in June. It is organized on the big Christian holiday, Holy Trinity and reminds us on tournaments that were organized in 15th century for knights and nobles, during the rule of despot Stefan Lazarević.

BELEF
Belgrade Summer Festival is an international festival that gathers theatre and dance, visual arts and music. Presents innovative artistic programs at squares and streets of Belgrade, theatres and other city venues. Produced and organized by BELEF Center. Held in the period July – August.

BELGRADE BEER FEST has set new standards for all similar manifestations, serving as a role-model event for other outdoor manifestations in terms of organization, production, and realization. BELGRADE BOAT CARNIVAL is held every last Saturday in August, during the afternoon, on Sava and Danube rivers.

This tourist and cultural event has taken place in Belgrade since 2002. The aim of European Heritage Days is to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the peoples of Europe as a shared heritage.

BITEF – Belgrade International Theatre Festival
The Festival is an international festivity of theatrical creativity – of new theatre trends of the international theater and the theatre of Serbia. The Festival is of competitive nature. Promoted by BITEF Theatre. Held in September, lasts for about 15 days.

INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF CHILDREN OF EUROPE – JOY OF EUROPE
The International event of children socializing, demonstrating artistic creativity of children coming from the European countries (music, music-performing and visual creativity). Held in the first week of October, lasts for one week.

BEMUS – Belgrade Music Festivities
The International music event of music ensembles and soloists presenting themselves by performing classical artistic and ethno music as well as pieces of contemporary music production. Promoted by “Jugokoncert”. Held in the first half of October, lasts for about 15 days.

OCTOBER SALON
Hosting of presentation of the most significant recent achievements of domestic authors in the field of fine and applied arts and design. Promoted by the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. Held in October, lasts for 25 days.

BELGRADE BOOK FAIR
The international event of book publishers and bookstores presenting domestic publishing production of domestic and foreign publishers. One of the biggest book fairs in Europe. Separate schedule ensemble is presentation of the country – the official guest of the Fair. Promoted by "Belgrade Fair". Held at the end of October – the beginning of November in the “Belgrade Fair" halls, lasting one week.

BELGRADE JAZZ FESTIVAL
This is an international festival, with a series of concerts by local and foreign performers held in the Belgrade Dom omladine, the Dom sindikata main hall, Kolarčeva zadužbina and other venues. The organizer is Dom omladine, Belgrade. It is held at the end of October and lasts around five days.

NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTIES
On 31st of December is organized celebration on the main city squares and streets, with live music and fireworks. All restaurants and discos prepare special programmes. Due to a great number of foreign visitors, it is best to book a hotel room at least one month before the holidays.
